I am so honored to have been given a necklace ( originally worn as a pin) that has been passed down for three generations. Matthew's grandmother wore it when his grandfather went to war, Becca wore it for Matt's last two deployments and now I get to wear it for his last deployment. Every time I feel it on my neck ( I wear it every day) I am reminded of him and all of the men and women out there who are fighting for our great country.
I can attest to how very special this piece is. Not just because of its beauty, but more importantly, because of its meaning. What a wonderful gift of confidence, love and acceptance it was for Becca and Geoff to present it to you, Iz. I wept with joy when Becca showed it to me, knowing how much it would mean to you on many levels and also, the kind of comfort it would bring you to wear it, knowing who had proceeded you in its care.
